Hi Luke,

Thanks for stopping in and welcome to the world of blogging! Yes, blogging is not an overnight success and takes time to build although some build a lot faster than others :-) . Taking on an assistant is a natural progression but you need to make money first if not from the actual blog at least in the niche that you are blogging about.

BTW .... hopped on over to your site but no blog for comments.

I am new to blogging etc but it seems I have the same mindset. Using all the same providers as you and like to feel I am in control of everything. My plan would be to employee someone locally once I need help as I think the quality would be better if you can have some personal contact with them. Nice to stumble upon you ;-)

Hi Jamie,
Five websites ... and all bringing in a bit of coin. That is wonderful, congratulations.

Yes, as your business grows we need to turn to outsourcing. I have hired a local part time assistant and that is making a huge difference in how I spend my time. This way even though I gave up some of my income to start with, I am in a better position to drive more business/income, and I am doing those things that I love and do best.

Hi Jamie,

Diversifying and including different tools to grow your internet marketing is the way to go. Blogging, I believe, is integral to the success of any business that has an online presence. It may take longer, the results may not be stupendous, but they grow deep roots and continue to support the business long after other methods have had their run and grown tired.

I'm retired and have been doing internet marketing to supplement my income. Since I started to diversify, the income stream started to improve. I have 5 websites on different topics, do Squidoo webpages and do article writing and every component makes a contribution. I am forced to outsource some of the work and have a few people doing that. That is the safe way. I got dumped by one guy and then simply gave his work to one of the other ones.

I agree with Valentina. I think in the long run the bigger companies will out last the smaller companies.

Hey Des,

Don't know if having two hosting companies is critical ... just make sure you have everything backed up independent of the hosting company you are currently using. This may be more important if you are hosted by a small independent company - I am all for supporting small business whenever I can but too many people I know who have used a small local hosting company and found that lo! It has disappeared! In this case my choice is one of the bigger more established ones.

Some interesting points raised in this post. I've been considering at some stage switching to using two web hosting companies. It will raise overheads a little, but it will be far more secure.
